DAY 4: ESSAOUIRA - SAFI - OUALIDIA

Depart for Oualidia from Essaouira. Stop at Safi, a town that was originally controlled by the Portuguese. Safi is well-known as a hub for sardine exports, but it is arguably best recognized for its ceramics. Arrive in Oualidia and unwind in a little beach community with a protected lagoon, estuary, and the wild Atlantic Ocean right on your doorstep. Walking, birding (especially in spring and autumn), fishing, swimming, kayaking, kite surfing, and surfing are just a few of the activities available in Oualidia. In Oualidia, spend the night.

DAY 5: OUALIDIA - EL JADIDA - CASABLANCA - RABAT

Continue your journey up the Atlantic Coast by departing Oualidia towards Rabat. Pass via El Jadida, a tiny Portuguese-controlled coastal city that is now a UNESCO World Heritage site, then stop in Casablanca to see Mohammed V Square and Hassan II's spectacular mosque. Explore Rabat's Imperial City, including the Mechouar (the ramparts and walls that encircle the Royal Palace), the stately Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower, and the Oudaya Kasbah, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and has Moroccan artisan galleries. Overnight in Rabat.

DAY 6: RABAT, ASILAH, AND TANGIER

From Marrakech, we continue our 14-day Morocco adventure. Take the magnificent seaside route from Rabat to Tangier. Visit Asilah, a lovely seaside village with whitewashed cottages, blue walls and doors, and a plethora of paintings. Tangier, Europe's gateway to Africa, has always been an international melting pot. Take a tour of Tangier and experience the lively medina and city surrounds, as well as the breathtaking perspective where the Mediterranean and Atlantic waters meet. Tangier is where you'll spend the night.

DAY 7: TANGIER - CHEFCHAOUEN

Depart Tangier towards the picturesque mountain hamlet of Chefchaouen, travelling through the Rif Mountains' lush valleys. Chefchaouen is well-known for its vibrant blue-washed buildings and is popular with both visitors and Moroccans. Explore Chefchaouen's meandering lanes and small alleyways, which are home to various souks providing gastronomy and artisan works such as woollen goods, delicate needlework, and goat's cheese; all of which are unique to the North and cannot be found anywhere in Morocco. Overnight in local riad.

DAY 8: CHEFCHAOUEN - VOLUBILIS - MEKNES - FES

After breakfast we will begin with a magnificent drive through the rich agricultural hills to the Roman Ruins at Volubilis, an open-air museum in the Rif Mountains. Volubilis isn't as magnificent as the Roman monuments along the Mediterranean coast, but it's nevertheless a laid-back approach to imagine a significant part of Moroccan history. We'll make our way to Meknes, Morocco's fourth imperial city and a 17th-century cultural site, where we'll stop for lunch and explore the ancient massive walls of the medina. Following the launch, we get a peek of Bab el Mansour and pay a visit to Moulay Ismail's mausoleum.  Following your excursion to Meknes, we will transport you immediately to Fes, where you will spend the night.

DAY 9: SIGHTSEEING IN FES WITH AN APPROVED LOCAL GUIDE

Today, we'll take a guided city tour of Fes to see everything it has to offer. Fes is the world's oldest and biggest medieval city. Its medina is a sensory overload of fragrances, noises, and sights. Follow one of the five themed tourist circuits to get around. There are several mosques and castles to visit in Morocco, however keep in mind that only Muslims are permitted to enter Mosques. After seeing dye-pits, tanneries, and eateries, we return to our accommodation to get ready for an optional night of Moroccan entertainment and food at a local restaurant.

DAY 10: FES, IFRANE, AZROU, ZIZ GORGES, ERFOUD, AND MERZOUGA

After breakfast, we'll set off on a scenic ride across the Moyen Atlas towards Ifrane, passing through hills covered in forests of cork oak and gigantic cedar, which are home to a few Barbary apes. We'll get our first look of the south's amazing architecture as we cross gorgeous and serene passes over both the Middle and High Atlas peaks. Lunch in Midelt was arrived over a desolate expanse of brush and sand. The stunning High Atlas hills towering behind the town give a beautiful backdrop. We will descend into a desert plain in the Ziz river after crossing Tizi-n-Talremt. We will next go south to Erfoud and Rissani, a vast oasis with over six million palm palms surrounded by several ksour (fortified villages). Continuing along a beautiful road that symbolizes the shift to desert, we will journey to your wonderful Kasbah hotel at the edge of the golden sand dunes, where you may rest near the swimming pool and enjoy a live concert by a desert blues band.

DAY 11: MERZOUGA - VISIT NOMAD FAMILIES

Wake up to a desert dawn and then ride a camel back to the hotel. You will then have the opportunity to freshen yourself with a shower and have breakfast.  After breakfast, go on a 4WD off-road tour around the dunes via Merzouga's oasis, the nomadic depository, Khamlia village to visit the Gnawa dark skin people's village, originally slaves brought from black Africa, to listen to their spiritual music, then continue to meet desert nomads in their tents and discover a new way of life. You'll leave for Rissani not far from Merzouga Lake, which is famous for its bird population. This was once known as Sijilmassa, and it served as a meeting point for salt caravans traveling from Timbuktu, Mali. You'll go through the souk, which sells spices, vegetables, and clothing. After lunch in Rissani, we return to our Kasbah, where we will be met with a drink of tea and given time to unwind before riding camels into the pink sands of Morocco's tallest dunes. We'll have enough time to explore the dunes before nightfall. Dinner is provided, followed by traditional music and a night spent in a nomadic tent.

DAY 12: MERZOUGA - TODRA GORGES - DADES VALLEY

We leave the desert and head to Todra Gorge. Morocco's Grand Canyon is a 1000-foot-deep valley surrounded on all sides by steep limestone cliffs. Today is a good day to explore the gorge, from its depths to its dizzying heights. Todra's allure rests in its shifting colors as the sun moves from east to west. We spend the night in the breathtaking Dades.

DAY 13: DADES, OUARZAZATE, AIT BEN HADDOU, AND MARRAKECH

After breakfast, we'll drive through the towns of this picturesque region, passing fields produced by Berber women and the High Atlas hills as a perfect background. Our drive will next take us to Ouarzazate, where we will proceed off-road down the piste to see Berber nomads in their caves and share a glass of tea with them. From here, we'll go through the Valley of the Roses, famed for its Rose Festival in May, and through Skoura's kasbahs. Following a visit to Ouarzazate's cinematographic museum, dubbed "Hollywood of Morocco," we will cross the riverbank to Ait Benhaddou. You may even go inside one of the houses and drink a glass of mint tea with some of the locals to get a better sense of how they live. You'll travel north across the High Atlas mountains in the afternoon. The route, constructed in 1936 by the Foreign Legion, snakes up over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2260m) and gives breathtaking views of the highlands before dropping via Berber settlements to the plain surrounding Marrakech. Even today, the term Marrakech conjures up visions of Arabian Nights scenes: alleyways, souks, kiosks, and markets. This magnificent city, which dates back to the 11th century, never fails to pique the interest of intrepid tourists. The famed Koutoubia Minaret's beautiful architecture dominates the skyline.

DAY 14: FREE DAY IN MARRAKECH - TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT

Today, we'll attempt to make the most of our time by wandering about Marrakech's souks, picking up some gifts for friends..., and then transferring to Marrakech Menara airport for your departing flight. Our 14-day Morocco vacation from Marrakech came to an end. Thank you for traveling in Morocco with experienced travel company and we transfer you to your hotel or airport at the end of your 14 days Grand Morocco Tour from Marrakech.
