5 SHARED COMBINED TOUBKAL AND SAHARA TOUR: 5 DAYS MOROCCO ATLAS AND DESERT TOUR

Morocco is a true wonder for trekkers, with its combined Atlas Mountains and Sahara Desert. A summation of what we all wish for. Landscapes, hospitality, nature, and culture have all come together in this small corner of Africa near here.

ITINERARY FOR GROUP MOUNT TOUBKAL & SAHARA TOUR 5 DAYS

Atlas & Sahara desert tour: The Atlas Mountains reward travelers with a spectacular combination of valleys, summits, and historic settlements clinging to mountainside cliffs. On this energetic excursion through one of Morocco's most naturally stunning locations, you'll see spectacular views and meet locals along the way. Recount the day's events from the comfort of your warm lodging while eating home-cooked supper each night.

Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – Sidi Chamharouch – Toubkal Refuge

At 8 a.m., you will be picked up from your accommodation in Marrakech. Our driver will transport you to Imlil (1740m), a Berber settlement 65 kilometers south of Marrakech, where our walk will begin. We'll meet the Berber muleteer crew here. To reach the mountain hut, an expert mountain guide will lead you via Berber communities and past the shrine Sidi Chamharouch (2500m). We'll have a picnic lunch here. We will continue towards the sanctuary after we have finished our lunch and taken a little break (3200m). A hot shower will be available to wash the dust off your body and get you ready for the next day. Dinner will be a classic Moroccan meal made in the evening.

Day 2: Toubkal Refuge (3207m) – Toubkal Summit (4167m) – return to Imlil

After breakfast served between 5 to 6 a.m. , we will begin the uphill climb. We'll take a short pause in the middle of our climb to refuel with water, oranges, and almonds. We will be able to enjoy a gorgeous view of all the High Atlas Mountains, valleys, and Berber settlements after ascending uphill. When we reach the summit, we will take a 45-minute pause to take pictures and enjoy the breathtaking views. Following that, we will return to the hut, where lunch will be waiting for us. We'll take the same path down the hill to go back to Imlil.

Day 3: Imlil - Tichka pass (2260m) - Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah - Dades Gorges

After breakfast, you will begin your journey to the Sahara. You will first traverse the High Atlas mountains' Tizi n'Tichka Pass. As you go through several Berber villages, you will have the opportunity to see riverfront oasis and barren hillsides densely packed with Kasbahs. After lunch, you will continue to the Valley of Roses, which offers stunning views of the Dades Valley and the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. You will spend the night at Dades.

Day 4: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Merzouga sand dunes

After breakfast, we drive to Todra Gorge, then on to the 'Auberge Palais du Dunes' at Erg Chebbi's dunes. When you arrive at the hotel, you will be served mint tea and will be able to prepare for your overnight stay at the camp in the heart of the Sahara. You ride your camel to the camp where your dinner is being prepared by the cook. After supper, you will have a fantastic time; there will be music and you will be able to see the sky filled with stars.

Day 5: Merzouga Erg Chebbi - Agdz - Marrakech

Finally, after witnessing the most stunning sunrise, you will ride the camels back to your accommodation for breakfast. It will be a long day travelling back to Marrakech, with a half-way detour across the Tichka pass.
